Inauguration of new storage and production halls for increased innovation and sustainability
NMC is delighted to announce the completion of its new storage and production halls at its main site in Eynatten. Over the past 22 months, three highly modern, energy-efficient halls have been constructed on an area of 15,500 square meters – two storage halls and one production hall. The first production machines were installed in June 2024 and went into operation in the autumn of the same year. ‘This expansion marks a significant milestone for our company and underscores our continuous growth, our innovative strength, and our commitment to sustainability’, emphasises Florent Pouzet, CEO of NMC.
More than just a structural change
The three new halls not only provide space for innovative projects, but also speak for the family-owned company’s commitment to sustainability. During the construction of the buildings, the company worked closely with regional companies and placed a special focus on environmentally friendly practices. ‘Careful planning and optimal placement of the buildings avoided the expensive removal of about 115,000 cubic metres of soil from the factory premises. The halls were built to the highest energy efficiency standards and are equipped with three powerful heat pumps (each with an output of 360 kW), a new photovoltaic system, first-rate insulation and clever heat recovery systems,’ explains Bernd Vorhagen, project manager at NMC. These measures contribute to CO2-neutral operation and achieve maximum energy savings. An additional photovoltaic system (2,200 panels) with an output of 1.1 megawatts supplies the plant and covers about 20% of its energy needs, further reducing its environmental footprint.
‘This expansion is more than just a structural change – it will create up to 40 new jobs and secure the site in the long term,’ emphasises the CEO. ’By working closely with regional companies and using the latest technologies, we are setting new standards in innovation and sustainability. We are proud to be able to make such a significant contribution to a more environmentally friendly future.’
Further construction projects are already underway: new parking spaces and covered parking
In the first phase, 200 of the 300 new parking spaces for employees and visitors were created on Gert-Noël-Street. The expanded parking lot towards the main road is taking shape, and the planting of trees was recently completed. In the next phase, the entire area will be paved and equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles. In addition, a motorcycle shelter and two monitored bicycle shelters will be built to further promote and support environmentally friendly commuting for staff. ‘On the south side, we have created a new entrance with a bicycle shelter to provide our employees with a safe and convenient connection via the municipal bike path’, explains Benoît Cormann, Operation Director at NMC. ‘Our NMC Bike Plan now includes over 100 committed employees who regularly cycle to work. This initiative, which we support, promotes the health of our team and underlines our commitment to environmentally friendly solutions.’
Sustainable innovation from Belgium
The construction of the new halls confirms the role of the Eynatten site as the technological centre of the international group operating in more than 16 countries. The new halls provide space for promising product innovations that will meet the growing demand for recyclable, efficient and insulating components. The new production hall will manufacture, among other things, PET products for window insulation, XPP boards and modern flexible acoustic panels. NMC is excited about the new possibilities and looks forward to using the associated process improvements to continue developing high-quality foam products that meet customer requirements, support team growth and increase the group’s competitiveness.
With an investment of around 25 million euros for machinery, storage, infrastructure and buildings, this is the largest investment project in NMC’s history.
